19XX Omega (Typewriters Works) II Serial # 11177249 19XX Omega (Typewriters Works) II typewriter, Serial # 11177249 C Carreon's 19XX Omega (Typewriters Works) II typewriter. 2026-10-02 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of C Carreon: 19XX Omega (Typewriters Works) II Serial # 11177249 Typewriter was found in an antique store in Pasadena, CA. At the time of finding it (10/1/26), the typewriter was priced at $225. Walked away from it as it was outside of my budget but typewriters from outside of the US are pretty rare around here, so I resolved to document the typewriter for the database instead.

In regards to this Omega II, it seems to be a rebranded Maritsa II for the Western market as suggested by the manual that was included with the typewriter. Date of manufacture is unknown as a reliable source for this information is currently unknown. Further research about the Omega II led me to scholarly work by K. Ghodsee (The Decline and Fall of Plovdiv Typewriters, 2021) which additionally supports that the Omega II is a rebranded Maritsa II. As I'm not an expert in Bulgarian typewriters, I'll be including the link for the journal article mentioned as it details the history of Typewriters Works which manufactured this Omega II and also includes a very thorough list of references related to both the Omega II and the Maritsa II which includes The Typewriter Database.

Amateur typewriter hunter and ASW with a small collection of typewriters here in Southern California. My modest collection began around 2014 when I bought a Royal Futura 800 at an estate sale with the measly $20 I had in my pocket.

Seeing the dazzling Americana Futura 800 for the first time paled in comparison to my earliest memories of an electric Brother typewriter that my mom practiced on in the late 90s. I'm forever thankful to the lady that let me buy my first typewriter, the Futura 800, as it has sparked my interest in mid century typewriters. For the time being, I've found a warm sense of comfort in using my typewriters for journaling and letting some clients in my work use it so that they can experience the unique joy of using a typewriter for themselves.

If I find a typewriter in the wild, I'll certainly record and upload it here. In that regard, at least these machines can be saved in a small way for both new and old typewriter enthusiasts.
