1993 Brother AX-300 Serial # E36430134 1993 Brother AX-300 typewriter, Serial # E36430134 Daniel Burgoyne's 1993 Brother AX-300 typewriter. 2026-03-13 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Daniel Burgoyne: 1993 Brother AX-300 Serial # E36430134 Found in Mississippi Mills, 51 km from my place, in the countryside. Was gifted to a school teacher by her husband for her to use in preparing her teaching class.

According to E.T.ZONE.org (Steven K.), this is what he calls a Brother AX/GX Beta series of portable electronic typewriters. The Beta has an enclosed power compartment, which when the door is fully lifted, is used as a paper back rest. The Alpha version of this is the model GX-6000.

I decided to go see what the carrier looks like, because I have a Brother GX-9000 with a missing (broken) clutch free wheel gear. It appears to be the exact same mechanism.

Bonjour! I am from the region of Montreal, Quebec and moved to Ottawa, Ontario in 1992.

Amateur watchmaker and machinist, I love anything mechanical, hydraulic or electric. I have restored American and Canadian clocks and small lathes, milling machines and a jig bore.

Most of my typewriters have French Canadian QWERTY keyboards, with some exception for rare finds.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Brother AX-300 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Brother Serial Number page and the Brother AX-300 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
