Description:
Say hello to the 80s!
A look at the SNs suggests they sold more than half a million of these. Add in the 1200, 2100, 2500, and derivatives of this one, and that is a lot of typewriters.
They're fine typewriters when they are properly serviced. However, people pick them up cheaply and expect something that's been sitting around for decades to function properly. The back panel, a good idea for easier access to the margin and tab mechanisms, are often busted up. This one is broken.

Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose. My goal is type tested machines. My interests are not isolated to any one area. For example, I am a big fan of Smith Corona electrics, mid century electrics and all things Royal.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Coronamatic 2200 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Coronamatic 2200 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
