1985 Brother EP-44 Serial # H51509134 1985 Brother EP-44 typewriter, Serial # H51509134 Steven Kuterescz's 1985 Brother EP-44 typewriter. 2020-11-19 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Steven Kuterescz: 1985 Brother EP-44 Serial # H51509134 I tell myself that thermal dot matrix printers are beyond the scope of my collecting interests, but this EP-44 is quite a package: an attractive and well-made gadget, well ahead of its time when it was released in 1985. Its a typewriter in so far as you can select Direct Print DP mode, but even Brother refers to its EP-44 as a PRINTER throughout its 47 page instruction guide., but 24-pin near-letter-quality whisper-quiet PRINTING at 16 cps is not to be sniffed at.
I was touched by a note from the seller: Thank you for your purchase, the typewriter was much treasured and loved by my late dad up till his death at 92 last year. He kept it in immaculate condition and it was still being used.

Perth, Western Australia. The best place in the world to be during a pandemic. But not an ideal location for a typewriter collector. My collecting interests shifted from mechanical typewriters to electronic. Theres something about the daisy wheel I like and there are more design variations than you might think. Still have few mechanical and electric typewriters. Running out of physical space ... ;)
