1982 Smith Corona Super Correct Serial # 6LEK 134970 G 1982 Smith Corona Super Correct typewriter, Serial # 6LEK 134970 G James Grooms's 1982 Smith Corona Super Correct typewriter. 2025-01-08 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of James Grooms: 1982 Smith Corona Super Correct Serial # 6LEK 134970 G This is the last S-C electric in the old familiar body style that started with the 6 series machines. A new twdb model add, not to be confused with the budget Correct XT

There are some interesting things on this last of the era 6 series typebar electric . It is still using ribbon spools vs cartridge. The cover is a standard post pop off unit. The dual drive belts are gone for one toothed belt with a tensioner vs the variable pulley. The power bar wheel has the clutch on it. Body work looks white but has a sort of greenish hue to it. The paper bail is a throwback to the first Electra 12 and 200.

It types but has noises coming from multiple sources. The power bar drive wheel looks like only the body work is holding it on. The carriage return won't hold left. The carriage is grinding on something. Maybe it is the rack bar for the carriage return/line space? Parts.

I find ads for 82 to 83 with a Jan 84 blowout. If they stared at 100,000, then they moved at least 35,000 to this one.

As with many, the bug is back there somewhere due to an Underwood No. 5. My grandfather was on a small town school board and used one for this. My parents had a yellow Royal Safari that I used to index card everything, including a beer can collection. Collection syndrome clue! The long dormant tic was activated when my neighbors left a Remington Quiet Riter on the curb when they moved in circa 2010, Yes a believe it or not story is next, when a Hermes 3000 comes home with the girlfriend from work for free. Yes, free! From there the addiction is full steam. And yes, I now have a No. 5. Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose.
