Description:
Sears model 268.52100 made by Brother of Nagoya Japan
Thrift store find, very good condition except for the waxy white correction flakes everywhere. Tossed the ribbon immediately.
The machine works very well, typing feels very good, the platen is also in unusually good condition after cleaning with IPA.
Paint of the sheetmetal shell looks flawless. The lid is molded black plastic, fits fine.
Measured platen width at 9 and 3/8 inches.
Mechanism seems to be Brother JP-1
Pica typeface with "3" casting number mostly.
Would be happy to use this machine at any time, just prefer Elite size.
There is one typebar that is raised slightly, the "e" but quick look at the link between key and typebar shows nothing obvious, since the key functions and types fine I'm not going to dig into it

Retired to the quiet of rural Nebraska to contemplate nature.
Typing down thoughts, prefer that to handwriting.
Not really a collector, just like to tinker on mechanical things.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Sears Correction on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Sears Serial Number page and the Sears Correction By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
