Description:
Local Ottawa find, but originally sold in Cornwall, Ontario. Can anyone date these with real evidence? If 2000000 is 1974 and 2140000 is 1975, could 2428824 be 1977, or hoping for faster roll out, maybe 1976? If it is of any help, the platen is still soft!
This big guy is heavy! Metal shell, save for the plastic carriage covers and molded case. Photos as found, after a quick dusting off.
The serial number is almost hidden. It took me 10 mins to find it! See photo below, you have to move the carriage left and look on the frame, next to the bell.
The keyboard layout is, of course, Canadian bilingual. There is a code 2 stamped on the type slugs, and the pitch is... 2.6 mm per caracter, just to be metric precise.

Bonjour! I am from the region of Montreal, Quebec and moved to Ottawa, Ontario in 1992.
Amateur watchmaker and machinist, I love anything mechanical, hydraulic or electric. I have restored American and Canadian clocks and small lathes, milling machines and a jig bore.
Most of my typewriters have French Canadian QWERTY keyboards, with some exception for rare finds.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olivetti Studio 46 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olivetti Serial Number page and the Olivetti Studio 46 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
