Description:
Lovely machine with the Senatorial 2.3 mm pitch typeface, and a Canada bilingual (E-F] keyboard layout.
Local purchase in Ottawa. Was litterally covered in bits of white droplets inside the mechanism at the rear, below the ribbon vibrator and on the platen and rollers and, below the keyboard. The case was also "painted" white inside, most likely from a leaking bottle of corrector fluid.
The tabulator brake pads had swollen, rendering the tabs unusable. As a side effect of the tabs, the drawband was wound around the barrel shaft.
After cleaning and fixing the tabulator, I find this typewriter types even better than my 1972 SM9 in Elite.

Bonjour! I am from the region of Montreal, Quebec and moved to Ottawa, Ontario in 1992.
Amateur watchmaker and machinist, I love anything mechanical, hydraulic or electric. I have restored American and Canadian clocks and small lathes, milling machines and a jig bore.
Most of my typewriters have French Canadian QWERTY keyboards, with some exception for rare finds.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olympia SM9 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olympia Serial Number page and the Olympia SM9 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
