II probably is the most common typewriter in Italy. This typewriter belongs to the most sold series (embossed painting and manufacturer name on the machine body, not on the carriage), has the most common painting and the most seen case (with working zip fastener, a quite rare detail). It’s the definition of the REGULAR typewriter. Every family has owned one or more of them. Who doesn’t have an uncle, an aunt or a parent who owned, or still owns, a Lettera 32? Even more common than a Fiat Uno. In few years of typewriters collecting I’ve lost the count of the ones I owned, this is probably the fifth or the sixth, all of the same variant; in fact, this small, light, easy to use, really resistant portable which can survive a Ryanair flight is the perfect gift for a friend, or the ideal machine to sell to someone who’s approaching for the first time the world of mechanical writing, so when I find a working one I buy it. It can be found in every flea market for €20/30, despite the crazy quotations on eBay and Marketplace, which are the place to avoid when buying a typewriter. This one in particular was made two years before the production was entirely moved to foreign production plants. It comes from the Piazzola sul Brenta (PD, Italy) market, the biggest in Italy. It’s perfectly working and has, together with the case, its original instruction sheet which you can download in the link section.

La Lettera 32 seconda serie azzurra è con tutta probabilità la macchina per scrivere più comune di tutta Italia. Appartiene alla serie più venduta (vernice goffrata e nome produttore sul corpo macchina, non sul carrello), ha il colore più diffuso e la custodia più classica (con chiusura lampo funzionante, una rarità).
