Description:
I thought this one was more challenged, but the drawstring was simply wrapped around the bottom of the mainspring.
There is almost zero for an ad push on these. When they show up, they are not using the XL-747. However, it is clear that is what is in the drawing. They just call it the "Webster."
Not all JP-1s are the same. I thought the larger, and nicer feet, on this one were something that came along later on things like the Sperry Rand Performer.

Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose. My goal is type tested machines. My interests are not isolated to any one area. For example, I am a big fan of Smith Corona electrics, mid century electrics and all things Royal.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Brother Webster XL-747 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Brother Serial Number page and the Brother Webster XL-747 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
