1971 Montgomery Ward Signature 300 Serial # F1466753 1971 Montgomery Ward Signature 300 typewriter, Serial # F1466753 GK Mandigo's 1971 Montgomery Ward Signature 300 typewriter. 2025-12-15 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of GK Mandigo: 1971 Montgomery Ward Signature 300 Serial # F1466753 Owned by my niece who received it as a gift from her mother and father. This is a rebadged Brother JP-1 and as they are famous for, the typing action is top notch. The plastic body is solid. The ribbon was dried out so I was unable to prepare a typeface specimen sample but it is a 10-cpi Pica machine with crisp, clean type slugs. I confess that in playing with the ribbon I got my fingers dirty and then handled the body so the smudges on the typewriter are mine and do not reflect the overall cleanliness of this machine. It does not look much different than the day that it was sold back in the early 1970's. I told my niece that she has a winner here and encouraged her to break it out every once in a while and put it through its paces.

Metastatic cancer fighter and sudden cardiac arrest survivor who has gotten into vintage typewriter collecting after realizing that life is short and typewriters are fascinating. My machines range from 1938 to 1973 and I type on all of them and have given each of them a name. Have I mentioned that life is short? I am having great fun with this obsessi- I mean hobby. I live in San Diego, California.
