Description:
Bill. Purchased at a thrift store in Heathsville, Virginia., 9.20.2025. Super dusty. Select-A-Type feature. Brought this to a walk-in typewriter repair clinic/type-in that our local group hosted at a library in June 2026. Ross "formed" (aka man-handled) the metal lid/cover into a somewhat straight shape so the right hand keys wouldn't be stopped with a metal *KLUNK* when colliding with the bent lid. I spent the rest of the time cleaning it with Simple Green and mineral spirits to unstick the G, E, and S keys. Works great now! It doesn't even have the alignment issue (I will update the typeface specimen soon!). #Royal #Red #Ivory #usa #Custom_II #1970s

Started collecting in March 2021 when an Olympia SM3 caught my eye at a thrift store. By May 2021, I was up to nine. By September 2021, my husband jumped in to the pool with both feet and our collection grew to 37. Phew. By October 2022 we had 64. In 2023 we began attending and hosting events where we can share our collection with the community and other collectors. We've sold or given away over 40. Good times.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal Custom II on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal Custom II By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
