Description:
An impressive machine, but complicated is an understatement. They are pointing this two ways in the market. With an MSRP of $290, it is $100 more than a Smith Corona 250. Note the articulating cover they copied from SC and the ads as "compact." This is SC's approach to offering a budget office machine compared to an IBM. A gen one Selectric would set you back $500. The speed and the memory features are trying to compete with the typeball.
This produces an impressive impression with great type action speed. I have two slugs out of whack, though. The m and the k and I think it is in the trip point. But how this is adjusted is a mystery even after reading the manual!
991 on the slug = Esteme elite?

Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose. My goal is type tested machines. My interests are not isolated to anyone area. For example, I am a big fan of Smith Corona electrics, mid century electrics and all things Royal.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olivetti Praxis 48 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olivetti Serial Number page and the Olivetti Praxis 48 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
