1970 Hermes Ambassador Serial # 1082494 1970 Hermes Ambassador typewriter, Serial # 1082494 Barbara DeMarco-Barrett's 1970 Hermes Ambassador typewriter. 2017-11-12 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Barbara DeMarco-Barrett: 1970 Hermes Ambassador Serial # 1082494 I can't find any Ambassadors that look like this one, so I'm guessing it's 1965. I found this on Offerup.com. A young man, James, said a friend of his mother's gave it to her because her company was cleaning out the typewriters. She works in Riverside, CA (11/10/17 is when I met James in a parking lot outside Starbucks at McKinley and Griffin in Corona/Riverside CA. There's a little sticker on the typewriter, Ennis and Lackey, an office supply co. I have the Hermes 2000, 3000, 10, and Rocket (though I'm sending back the Rocket because it came to me with the drawband broken). I've wanted an Ambassador mostly because I just love Hermes, the seafoam green body, the minty keys. Joan Didion had an old Ambassador that you can see in photos with her when she lived in the Malibu house. Paid $75. In quite clean condition. Very taken care of. Probably for use in that same office all these years.
