Description:
A handsome Swedish machine with cubic typeface. Found it cheap and not working on Facebook Marketplace for $40. The escapement was frozen solid and required two days' worth of constant soaking with mineral spirits and 3-in-1 Penetrant. "Smooth" does not begin to describe the action of this typewriter. It's like gliding on ice.
Repairing this typewriter is easy. The carriage can be removed by unscrewing a handful of screws, allowing access to the mainspring and escapement. All in all, it is a well-built and enjoyable typewriter.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Facit 1620 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Facit Serial Number page and the Facit 1620 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
