196X Remington Suburbanite Serial # LT3827979 196X Remington Suburbanite typewriter, Serial # LT3827979 C Carreon's 196X Remington Suburbanite typewriter. 2026-09-07 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of C Carreon: 196X Remington Suburbanite Serial # LT3827979 This typewriter was bought via Ebay through Goodwill SoCal Shop. I later picked it up in person after being the only person that bid on the machine. Upon opening up the case, the typewriter was found left unsecured within the case. The case was not damaged at all and was extremely light and easy to clean as it was made of plastic. The typewriter itself however had its right platen knob rolling around inside the case and was missing a screw on the right side of the platen and another screw missing on the left side panel behind the knob on the left side of the platen. After cleaning it, taking it to a local typewriter repair mechanic and later including a washer on the left side of the platen to fix the line spacing mechanism, this Suburbanite types easily and feels comfortable to type on.

The majority of the exterior panels on this typewriter is made of a thick plastic. Metal panels surround the Tabulator just behind the platen. Underneath the typewriter is a metal frame.

The date of the typewriter is approximate based on documentation included in the gallery which includes a design patent from 1960 by Sundberg and Ferrar which strongly resembles the Suburbanite and an ad from 1961 from the Oregon Statesman.

The typewriter is noted to be made in the United States as indicated in the rear panel.
