Description:
This was one of only a few wide-carriage typewriters I've had. Unfortunately the rails that stick out of the side of the machine were bent in transit and a lot of the mechanism of the machine was also damaged, presumably by the same impact. I held on to it for a long time with the hope of fixing it, and even made the carriage move, but it was pretty mangled inside. After cannibalising it for parts, it was eventually scrapped. Purchased on 24 November 2024 and scrapped about nine months later. (I kept the top cover and some other parts.)
Elite, UK keyboard.

My grandmother taught me how to touch type when I was 13 after giving me a blue Brother typewriter. Now, 40 years later, after getting my paws on an Olympia, I am ditching my laptop for all my writing.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olympia SM9 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olympia Serial Number page and the Olympia SM9 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
