Description:
Nickname "Olive"
The name is a nod to its green body color which some call "seafoam green" and some call "meadow green", it is lovely whatever you call it. Produced for just a few years, 1963-1966, the "3-Diamond" 5AX series is one of the last iterations of the venerable 5-series, marking the end of a generation of typewriters. A model named "Sterling" had been in the Smith-Corona lineup since the early 1930's and it sported different feature and trim levels over the years, but the 3-Diamond was a full-featured machine with a full 88-character keyboard that had tab set and clear on the right side. Olive has a great typing action and is gorgeous with smooth paint and white keys and knobs.

Metastatic cancer fighter and sudden cardiac arrest survivor who has gotten into vintage typewriter collecting after realizing that life is short and typewriters are fascinating. My machines range from 1947 to 1973 and I type on all of them and have given each of them a name. Have I mentioned that life is short? I am having great fun with this obsessi- I mean hobby. I live in San Diego, California.
