Description:
Sold as of 2024.
This is the first typewriter I've ever owned. Smith-Corona Classic 12 with a Canadian-English layout and 12 pitch. Year (1963) is based on the TWDB age tables.
It could use a bit of a cleaning, but it's otherwise in great shape and is very smooth to use. Not pictured is the standard hard case.

I enjoy learning about typewriters, how they work, and how to care for them. I mainly use them for writing letters and journaling. I have a small collection of 10 or so manual typewriters, and most have a French-Canadian layout. It's nice when I don't have to manually add accents to letters afterwards (e.g., é, ê. ë, ç, ù, à, etc).
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Classic 12 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Classic 12 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
