Description:
I have been wanting a Smith Corona Electric Portable 5TE ever since I first heard about them. They look like the 5 series Silent Supers, but have electronic assist making it easier to type evenly. I even bought one from Shop Goodwill which was unfortunately badly damaged during shipment and I sent it back and got a refund.. I bought this one from Ace Typewriter in Portland, Oregon. I had called Matt McCormick of Ace Typewriter and he said he had two in his back stock and could fix one up for me. I was delighted. This is my first professionally serviced typewriter and it works perfectly. It may not win any beauty contests, but it is a joy to type on. It is effortless and purrs like a kitten. I love it.

I recently started collecting typewriters after rediscovering my love for them at an event. I am fortunate to live in an area with a small group of people who appreciate typewriters. We meet bimonthly and share recent finds and host type-ins to let others in our area discover the joy of typewriters.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Electric Portable on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Electric Portable By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
