Description:
Hm. In order to adjust the type alignment or shift lock, the body has to be removed. In order to remove the body, the carriage has to be removed. In order to remove the carriage, you have to slide if off the rails. Luckily that is not too difficult, but I can’t help to find it a somewhat awkward procedure.
Doesn’t type as well as my early AIERTY Consul 1511, but I suspect that this machine has had a hard life and wasn’t treatened well (it needed a lot of work to get it back in shape). This reminds me once again that no typewriter is the same and that the typing experience can vary quite a lot between models.
P.S. The case is as elegant as it is practical.

I live in The Netherlands.
Most common typewriter brands over here are Triumph/Adler, Olympia, Erika, Olivetti, Remington and Brother.
I collect and restore typewriters to learn about their design and to write with them.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Consul 1511 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Consul Serial Number page and the Consul 1511 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
