1959 Adler Record Serial # 2183711 1959 Adler Record typewriter, Serial # 2183711 Brancaleone daNorcia's 1959 Adler Record typewriter. 2026-03-23 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Brancaleone daNorcia: 1959 Adler Record Serial # 2183711 Adler record
Serial no. 2.183.711
Manufactured in 1959
by Adlerwerke, vormals Heinrich Kleyer AG, Frankfurt am Main, West Germany

32cm carriage
Pica 10pt

This was my first own typewriter. I acquired it sometime in the early 1990s for a handful of Deutsche Marks when the equipment from an abandoned Red Cross station was auctioned off. At the time, I never would have imagined that decades later I'd be so gripped by the collecting bug.

In terms of robustness and typing feel, this machine is still top-notch. If anyone wanted to learn touch typing, I would wholeheartedly recommend this Adler record.

Fellow typospherians, may I introduce myself? I'm Brancaleone da Norcia, Typewriter Hunter and TWDB Patron from Germany. My main focus is collecting portable machines from the 1950s to the 1970s. I particularly appreciate good industrial design and durable construction. Many Olivetti models inspire my enthusiasm. I'm pretty good at touch typing, enjoying it a lot – it's very contemplative. At last, I have a particular fondness for pangrams and am always happy to discover new ones. Looking forward to get in touch with you, kind regards, Brancaleone.
