Description:
Montana Luxe
Serial No. 32.872
Manufactured in 1958
by Montana S. p. A., Turin, Italy
The color of the keytops on this machine, if I were to place them on a color scale, is comparable to "claret violet" (RAL 4004). This distinguishes it from the machine with serial number 41.728, whose keys appear to be like "luminous red" (RAL 3024) (the same shade that Groma occasionally used for its square keytops in the early 1950s). The violet color of the keys, combined with the sand-colored crinkle lacquer of the casing, gives this typewriter an appealing appearance.

Fellow typospherians, may I introduce myself? I'm Brancaleone da Norcia, Typewriter Hunter and TWDB Patron from Germany. My main focus is collecting portable machines from the 1950s to the 1970s. I particularly appreciate good industrial design and durable construction. Many Olivetti models inspire my enthusiasm. I'm pretty good at touch typing, enjoying it a lot â it's very contemplative. At last, I have a particular fondness for pangrams and am always happy to discover new ones. Looking forward to get in touch with you, kind regards, Brancaleone.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Montana Luxe on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Montana Serial Number page and the Montana Luxe By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
