This Erika 11 in Metallgrün (though almost gray, imho) has the beautiful contrasting black keys. This was the machine that began my love for the Erika, what with both compact beauty and (how do you say flotten Spielweise?) snappy action??? I contend, however, that aesthetics flatten out on Erikas after the 11, even if mechanics remain good.
For years used I the Groma Kolibri, but was not satisfied with the smoothness of the action, but have found the Erikas a good substitute; in fact, the flattest I can go and be satisfied that it is a smooth, crisp typing machine.
N.b. The screws visible on the exterior body on this machine must be kept snugly secure. If the carriage unexpectedly and suddenly begins skipping, or a certain hammer or two begins faltering, verifying these probably will be just the trick.

Call me Papa. Some time ago, never mind how long precisely, I decided to buy a typewriter. I think it was a Royal, but as way led on to way, it got away from me. I got older.
Now, I am but an humble collector of archaic writing machines. Rather than indiscriminately gathering them hither and thither, I painstakingly choose the next one, and all are used for epistolary endeavors.
