I bought a typewriter for the sole purpose of journaling and writing with no thought given to working on them as a hobby. On a whim, I purchased a second typewriter, which I knew needed some cleaning and adjustment. I discovered that this exercise took me back to simpler times when I maintained electromechanical switching equipment in my early days of telephony.
Typewriters: a collection of complex Rube Goldberg contraptions that collectively perform a simple function, to put ink to paper. How wonderful is that?
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Tower Collegiate on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Tower Serial Number page and the Tower Collegiate By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
