1954 Hermes 2000 Serial # 2093251 1954 Hermes 2000 typewriter, Serial # 2093251 Plante and Doole-Fisher Typewriters's 1954 Hermes 2000 typewriter. 2019-05-13 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Plante and Doole-Fisher Typewriters: 1954 Hermes 2000 Serial # 2093251 The 2000 is often overlooked by those clamouring to the Baby and the 3000, given the aura that surrounds those two models made by the venerable Swiss company Paillard. The 2000 is therefore undervalued but outstrips many machines of the era from inception into the mid-fifties when the model was discontinued, and there are those that feel the H2K is a superior machine to the 3000. There is no typewriter quite like it in that form factor; it feels like a much larger machine, and the vicious way that it pounds the letters into the paper is a sensation unto itself. The staccato is matched by the rasp of the carriage as it is slid home for the next line, and the entire time you use it it screams 'Faster! Write faster!', something unlike the consistent plodding of the 3000 or soft patter of the Baby. It is a fantastic machine, and one that any serious collector should hunt for.
