1953 Remington Super-Riter Serial # J2397433 1953 Remington Super-Riter typewriter, Serial # J2397433 Russell Knight's 1953 Remington Super-Riter typewriter. 2026-03-03 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Russell Knight: 1953 Remington Super-Riter Serial # J2397433 This typewriter has not been kept in good condition, with the two front feet missing and with general cosmetic and internal wear, probably isn't worth the price. I didn't get to test it out (and likely would've been disappointed with the state of the internals if I did) but from what I hear the Super-Riter is a pretty solid, reliable desktop workhorse.
Other than the Italian machine, all these came with the same somewhat drab grey crinkle paint, and there's practically no difference between them and the Remington 17. One of the great drawbacks (for me, at least) is the industrial look of these; after WWII and through the 1960’s Remington had government contracts and made their machines to last, without much thought to the stylishness of them.
