1952 Olivetti Studio 44 Serial # 734277 1952 Olivetti Studio 44 typewriter, Serial # 734277 Francesco Menara's 1952 Olivetti Studio 44 typewriter. 2024-03-18 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Francesco Menara: 1952 Olivetti Studio 44 Serial # 734277 It's quite tricky to know the production year of this Studio 44, because the serial number says it's been made in 1952 and it's one of the first ever made, but the big, plastic-made keys indicate that it's been made after 1956. The most probable explanation is that the entire keyboard had been replaced, although this one seems to be firmly fixed to the mechanics. The typeface is the big Pica. The typewriter is on nice working condition and didn't require any big operation, except for the adjustement of the mechanism which stopped the carriage at the end of the line and prevented it from falling off its rail. Some little scratched have marked the beige painting, which is in generally good conditions. The machine is equipped with its original synthetic fabric cover.

E' piuttosto difficile datare la produzione di questa Studio 44: il numero di serie dice che è stata prodotta nel 1952, uno dei primi anni di produzione, ma i tasti grandi in plastica suggeriscono che sia stata costruita nel 1956. La spiegazione più probabile è che l'intera tastiera sia stata sostituita, sebbene questa sembri saldamente fissata alla meccanica. Il carattere è il Pica grande. La macchina si presenta in ordine, in buone condizioni e non ha richiesto particolari interventi, se non la registrazione della camma che blocca il carrello a fine corsa, perché poteva accadere, scrivendo, dopo aver premuto il tasto supero margine, che il carrello stesso uscisse letteralmente dalla sua sede. La vernice originale è in buone condizioni, segnata da qualche graffio. La macchina è equipaggiata con la sua copertura originale in tessuto sintetico.
