1952 Groma Gromina Serial # 506638 1952 Groma Gromina typewriter, Serial # 506638 Paolo Dal Chiele's 1952 Groma Gromina typewriter. 2020-03-17 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Paolo Dal Chiele: 1952 Groma Gromina Serial # 506638 After the Neckermann Brillant Junior aka Groma Kolibri, here it is their mother, the Gromina.
This machine was sold to me as a part machine.
Three keys were missing and the central typebars dangled free, evidently out of their seats. For the rest, the typewriter was blocked but without rust and with some interesting features.
The thing that attracted me was the keyboard with the letters that were colored using transparent films by an apprentice typist, who knows when.
And it was a Gromina featuring an extremely interesting mechanics, from which Groma derived Kolibri, even if more than an evolution it is more correct to speak of a complete redesign preserving only some of the technical solutions of the previous model.
It is not a simple machine to repair and adjust, and in fact the movement of the platen is still completely busted, but unfortunately part of my tools is unreachable due to the limitations in moving due to covid-19, and I will have to wait a long time before being able to return to Italy.
I found two of the missing keys by removing the base of the typewriter, and therefore only the margin release is missing, which does not bother me much.
Another typewriter returned to working conditions.

The previous owner had found somewhere a typewriter produced for the German army and when he sold me the car he gave me the typewriter too. As I learned later, it was a1961 Olympia SM7 Robust..
Of the typewriters I value more character than perfection, the signs that time has left and the stories - or fragments of stories - of those who used them ...
