1951 Olympia SM2 Serial # 143121 1951 Olympia SM2 typewriter, Serial # 143121 Alessandro Ruoso's 1951 Olympia SM2 typewriter. 2019-11-04 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Alessandro Ruoso: 1951 Olympia SM2 Serial # 143121 The black Olympia SM2 with English QWERTY keyboard arrived today.
It has a damaged case and a cart lock that does not work (at least it seems because the teeth do not fit in the holes in the cart), the ink ribbon is more than dry as you can see from the photos but I think with a new one everything is back.
The SM 2 is very similar to the SM 3 which I already change only some aesthetic things and the block on the SM 2 is on the cart while on the SM 3 it is on the keys (perhaps an improvement compared to that of the 2 that would have given problems).
Conclusion With a bit of cleaning and tidying up the block, I think I was once again the wonderful typewriter.

The inside of the case looks much better than the outside where there are tears in the material that covers the wood and the dirt accumulated over the years in addition to the rust present in the lock and joints.

The writings of the model and of the factory on the back of the typewriter are nothing short of exceptional and not erased as in other models I have seen on the internet

The tape is super dry, who knows when they don't use it but the signs, even if minimal, still leaves them.

The seller's name tag on the inside of the case is the same as the one on the side of the typewriter but this is held better like the rest of the inside of the case than on its outside

Seeing it from the outside can seem very damaged but then opening it turns out that it is all in all in good condition, in this case it suffered more damage to the suitcase than the typewriter and in the end this is what the briefcases were used for as well as to carry them around also to suffer and protect the typewriters they contained within them
