1950 Smith Corona Skyriter Serial # 2Y 19127 1950 Smith Corona Skyriter typewriter, Serial # 2Y 19127 Aaron Friedrich Lotar Rolf Klamp's 1950 Smith Corona Skyriter typewriter. 2021-07-23 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Aaron Friedrich Lotar Rolf Klamp: 1950 Smith Corona Skyriter Serial # 2Y 19127 I don´t hope to bore fellow collectors from the states with another entry of a Smith Corona Skyriter, but far from there, namely here in Germany, this Typewriter is a rare appearance and a gorgeous one too! What makes it even more special to me is the fact that it has a German QWERTZ Keyboard, and was refitted with an "ß" Type (black button). On top it was made early in the second year of production.

It truly reminds in its Design of the "Super Constellation" era, and is so simple, rugged, and reliable as it can be. There is a profound Production philosophy behind it, that examplifies the American way of design, conception and craftsmanship.

All mechanic operations in this tin body are crisp, and it seems as the Skyriter would claw itself on the ground it is placed onto. I´ve never feld a Typewriter sitting so solidly in place, without any moving, as this beautiful example of an ultra portable Typewriter.

The only thing that is poor at the moment is the Typeface example, as I had to go with an outworn bluish ribbon of my Zephyr.
I will update this in time, when I installed a new one.
