Description:
Hermes Baby (Rocket?) from 1949. Based on the serial number and the fact that it not labeled as either "Baby" or "Rocket" this model might fall into the transition period between the two names. Apart from a missing platen knob and a broken left margin stop it is in remarkable mechanical condition. Very fast mechanism. No added spaces but very rarely it fails to advance and piles two letters on top of each other.

I live in San Francisco and I love Olivetti and Olympia typewriters. I collect and use both English and Russian (Cyillic) models.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Hermes Baby on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Hermes Serial Number page and the Hermes Baby By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
