Description:
Woodstock 5 Correspondence Model. The "NC" SN prefix doesn't match known records; if anyone knows what that the prefix means I'd be glad to know.
At one time Woodstock Ill. was called the typewriter capital of the world because it produced the Oliver, Emerson and the Woodstock at the same time. As I've heard the older Woodstock 5s were only available by mail order, not in stores. Sears would knock off $32.00 of the $100.00 price if the customer would demonstrate it to others and get written testimonials. Sometime in the 20's they moved to Chicago where Sears had their major shipping hub.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Woodstock 5 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Woodstock Serial Number page and the Woodstock 5 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
