Description:
My 5th typewriter is somewhat appropriately a Remington De Luxe Model 5. This was in certain ways very good (overall paint, non-sticky mechanism, intact rubber feet) but rough in other ways (key caps horribly scarred by fingernails, required fixes to carriage spring and a loose screw for one of the case mounts). It's in Pica unlike my two desk Remingtons that are both Elite.
The little bit of red on the bottoms of the letters seem to improve once I fixed the ribbon path.
The typing feel is pretty nice.
Case is in fairly good shape.
Acquired from Goodwill auction, sold from Central North Carolina.

Relatively new to collecting. Would like to document my collection.
Planning on sticking to full-sized American machines so I don't spend too much on fancy European portables.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington De luxe 5 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington De luxe 5 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
