Description:
The QDLs are like a box of chocolates; you never know what you are going to get. This one had pretty good cosmetics, and I wanted the travel case. However, it was dirty/grease, and not much could be tested. The platen and the feet wear indicated it had seen some use.
After a lot of cleaning, it tests out pretty well with an even trip and can run fairly fast without the skip and crowd. The alignment needs a tad more work. A platen from a Heritage to the rescue and a nice impression!

Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose. My goal is type tested machines. My interests are not isolated to any one area. For example, I am a big fan of Smith Corona electrics, mid century electrics and all things Royal.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal Quiet De Luxe on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal Quiet De Luxe By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
