Description:
I thought I'd be far more enamored with this machine than I ended-up being. Purchased from the fellows down at Philly Typewriter in January of 2026. I believe it used to be part of the Bob DeBarth collection. It needed a lot of work--a thorough cleaning of course, and a new drawband. But there was also this mysterious white substance on the front plate that seemed to produce something of a "shadow" of the keys that were in front of it. Nevertheless, it did clean off.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olivetti M40 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olivetti Serial Number page and the Olivetti M40 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
