Description:
Hermes 2000
Serial No. 39.491
Manufactured in 1937
by E. Paillard & Cie. S.A., Yverdon, Switzerland
This Hermes 2000 clearly shows the signs of many years of intensive use. The type slugs and keytops reveal that it has already undergone several repairs. Even today, it still functions perfectly and offers an excellent typing experience.
It is the oldest typewriter in my collection, and I have great respect for everything it has experienced and for the many years it has served someone. I am happy to keep the Hermes with all its marks of history.

Fellow typospherians, may I introduce myself? I'm Brancaleone da Norcia, Typewriter Hunter and TWDB Patron from Germany. My main focus is collecting portable machines from the 1950s to the 1970s. I particularly appreciate good industrial design and durable construction. Many Olivetti models inspire my enthusiasm. I'm pretty good at touch typing, enjoying it a lot – it's very contemplative. At last, I have a particular fondness for pangrams and am always happy to discover new ones. Looking forward to get in touch with you, kind regards, Brancaleone.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Hermes 2000 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Hermes Serial Number page and the Hermes 2000 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
