Description:
Another rough Standard that turned out pretty nice. The platen is beat up. The feed roller was flat, which is a bit unusual for a SC. A 5 series tray dropped right in. Some more rocker rubber to quiet down the return (pics).
A super smelly case was damp washed with pet spray cleaner and then quickly rinsed with the kitchen sink spray nozzle. Then into the sun for a quick dry. Next up was a super-strong car air freshener (pic) placed in a plastic tray with some water. Then closed up and went back into the sun. This works wonders. It is like a steam sauna, and the fabric material absorbs the super-activated freshener.

Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose. My goal is type tested machines. My interests are not isolated to anyone area. For example, I am a big fan of Smith Corona electrics, mid century electrics and all things Royal.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Standard on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Standard By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
