Description:
I purchased this at an antique mall in PA. I didn't NEED another typewriter, but this was too beautiful and reasonably priced to leave behind. It has the original spools and even the platen is in good shape after 99 years. The serial number is underneath the machine, inside the lower back bar of the frame. The case locking system is a particularly good design, as you have to lift a latch and push the button to one side to unlock it, minimizing accidents. I haven't cleaned it or changed the ribbon yet, but posting some "as found" pics.

I am a librarian, artist, writer, and co-author of the book Desegregation in Northern Virginia Libraries (The History Press, 2023). If I'm working on a book or article for publication, I'm on a computer. However, I use my typewriters to create poems, type-doodles, and to write snail mail letters. The tactile nature of typing on a manual machine works some kind of detox magic in this digital age. Each vintage typewriter has a soul and a story. Currently my collection is centered around midcentury models.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Corona 4 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Corona Serial Number page and the Corona 4 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
