Description:
I believe this may have been converted to military use at some point.
Its totaled, a pinion broke off, and now the carriage doesn't advance.
It dose look and feel a hole lot like a Smith Corona Silent secretarial though. After sitting on my floor for about a year I finally got in donated to a local typwriter shop.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the L.C. Smith 3 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the L.C. Smith Serial Number page and the L.C. Smith 3 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
