Description:
This was a local find in Philadelphia in the spring of 2016: a 1923 Underwood "Semitic" 46T. Typing in Yiddish (using Hebrew script, but also has Yiddish diacritic marks, I'm told), everything is engineered to type right-to-left instead of left-to-right. It appears to have come from Chicago, as it has a tag listing it as formerly "Property of the Jewish Home for Aged, B.M.Z. of Chicago, 4147," and a service sticker of the Mid-City Typewriter Exchange, 943 West Madison Street in Chicago. It is in pristine condition, and has been exceptionally well cared for.
