Historical Olivetti typewriter, the "M20" replaced the first "M1" model in 1920. Big and imposing as its ancestor, with new and revolutionary technical and mechanical characteristics, copied in the following years by many competing companies, the M20 was very appreciated and sold not only in Italy. Produced for approximately ten years until the introduction of another great machine, the "M40".

I have been an Italian typewriter collector for many many years. At that time, I loved very old typewriters from late 1800s and early 1900s.a After a break of a few years I returned to collect typewriters but no longer so old, I prefer the design of the 40's, 50's and 60's. Yes, I am an affectionate collector of Olivetti, of course, but I'm attracted to all the other brands from that period, not just Italian.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olivetti M20 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olivetti Serial Number page and the Olivetti M20 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
