1923 Noiseless 4 and a half Serial # 69267 1923 Noiseless 4 and a half typewriter, Serial # 69267 Mark Schrad's 1923 Noiseless 4 and a half typewriter. 2023-08-01 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Mark Schrad: 1923 Noiseless 4 and a half Serial # 69267 I got this Noiseless outside of a flea market in Quakerstown, Pennsylvania in January, 2018. It seems to be in that nether-region between a model 4 and a model 5--so I dubbed it a 4 1/2. For one, the database here suggests that 5s begin with a #5 prefix (this one doesn't), and the model 5s began at 5/69296, which comes after this one, which is 69267. However, it does have a mix of features between the 4 and the 5. It has 30 keys instead of 28, it has a bi-chrome ribbon color selector, which the 5s had and the 4s didn't, but it doesn't have the lettering indicating "upper" and "lower," such, as a 5 would. Plus it has a very circuitous ribbon run.
