A challenging project that came out nicely. The top coat was impossible to remove without risking the excellent graphics and pinstriping, so WD-40 and a soft brush scrub was used. A fair amount of corrosion to the plating was brass wheeled and/or hit with the 0000. There was some mechanical challenges to overcome with the big one being the line lock mechanism needing the torch. The biggest win was a platen from a rebuilt X297802 that works well. The original platen didn't have a variable release, but all of the new bits swapped in. Rollers from a KMM and she feeds nicely and leaves an excellent impression for a one-hundred and ten year old typewriter.
