Description:
Unfortunately, it's missing two feet (and one is most certainly not original), the bottom cover, paper rollers, the paper guide, the bell, and the ringing leaver seems to have been torn off (ouch). Probably won't buy.
While at the shop I had to perform "emergency surgery" because the carriage wouldn't move left of the halfway mark and after that it didn't have any mainspring action. What happened was the drawband slipped off the barrel and got wound around the shaft. I took the band off (which was thankfully easy) and put back in place correctly, though it must of looked weird to see someone pulling parts off a typewriter in the middle of the floor.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal 5 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal 5 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
