190X Oliver 3 Serial # 103331 190X Oliver 3 typewriter, Serial # 103331 Michael Hoehne's 190X Oliver 3 typewriter. 2015-10-28 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Michael Hoehne: 190X Oliver 3 Serial # 103331 very sluggish operation; missing several parts (tower screws, spools, 1 ribbon cover, vibrator cage is broken, ??); This will need a fair amount of work. Sure is cute, though.

Well, maybe. When they say Visible, they really mean it. Just look at all those levers and buttons and pivots. Can you imagine sitting a modern teenage girl down in front of one of these for her first day on the job? It looks more complicated than a turret milling machine.

While I find all of mankind's inventions interesting, I am most enchanted by the human-scale arts and devices, the ones that can be created (and repaired) in a home workshop or studio; the ones that can be understood by looking at them; the ones that do something useful or stir admiration. Typewriters work for me.
